Why we are here

Building a life in a new country takes courage. It can also bring loneliness, financial strain, workplace pressure, and emotional challenges that can quietly become overwhelming. Recently, we lost Devika, a young Indian working woman in Japan, who was facing a weight that became too difficult to carry.

With her family's consent, we are sharing Devika's name while keeping other personal details private. What we can share is our resolve: no one should have to face such a difficult time alone. This fund supports Devika's grieving family.

Devika, a native of Kannur, Kerala, is survived by her parents and younger sister. Her parents are daily-wage workers who worked hard to raise their daughters and had taken a loan to support Devika’s journey to Japan.

At this incredibly difficult time, the support raised by the community will be a meaningful source of comfort and consolation to her family as they cope with this profound loss.
